    The fort of Surat was built in year 1540-41 by Khudawand Khan primary with a view to protect the city from the foreign aggression it is an ancient monument constructed during 16th century. The fort was built in with solid bricks, stones and lime. The width of the wall was 4.06 meters. It is constructed at the bank of river Tapi. It is adjacent to Hope bridge. At present many government offices are functioning this premises.
